And They Want Us To Go To School

Have you ever wondered “What in the world am I ever gonna use this math equation for in my life” ? Good. You’re at the right place. Hi, I’m a realist, and you are ?
Welcome back to my blog, after some time, I decided to talk about public schools and the way these schools work and how effective they are to real life. I’m not a doctorate graduate, nor a Master’s degree owner, I’m simply a college student and a member of a society. This society we all live in governs our thoughts and tends to judge us by that evil thing schools tend to call a GPA.
Why do we bother and go to school ? Why do we wake up every morning, or have somebody wake us up, in my case, and drag our selves to school ?
We’re products and slaves of this society. I’m not against education, now, don’t get me wrong on this. I’m just against the way subjects are taught to us.

Teachers who take them selves too seriously need to understand how it just gives free loads of anxiety to the kids in their classrooms. Remember that one old grumpy teacher you had in Elementary or Middle School ? Of course you do. In fact, she might be the only one you remember. Now, all I’m saying here is that teachers need to teach us what we need to know instead of what the government tells them to teach us. The gov’t does tests to analyze how good a school is doing by the way. It’s a national test we refer to as F.S.Ts .. the Full of Shit Tests. Or was it the CSTs ?

I miss the teachers who taught us real stories. Teachers who brought memories, or made them, always make a child’s mind open up and be ready to learn more. Our attention span is very limited, [thank you, T.V.], and in order to teach high school or college students something, it needs to be interesting. If the topic is not interesting, the teacher/professor needs to try to make it interesting. We’re still kids at heart after all. Any little joke above the norm can make us laugh.

Don’t you think it’s unfair how this entire grading system works ? The whole As, Bs and my favorite, Fs (joke. Hi Mom!). These grades are labels stuck on us. These grade should be abolished. We need a “pass” or “not pass” terms going on. I have to credit Seza Baghdadlian for this one. At that time, people who learn enough can pass just like you would when you get anything between an A or a C, except this time, no one can judge you. Woohoo !

Seriously now, I think there are a lot of flaws in our school systems and they need to be fixed for a better generation. We have to study all of these “basic” requirements. No they’re NOT basic, first of all. Second, why would we study biology if we’re not interested ? Have you ever asked a doctor where a certain country is located ? 0% geography knowledge. No shit ! I’d actually be surprised if he could locate Hawaii on the map. Let’s just hope he doesn’t point at the U.S. map [I know what it's a part of, but we're talking maps here], if he found the U.S. on the map, at least.
I’m not going against doctors here, but the irony of this schooling system. We have to learn so much in so little time that by the end of the 4 years of high school you don’t know, let’s be nice, crap !
People I know who aren’t interested in Art are forced to take art classes, while on the other hand, the budget cuts don’t allow many students to get in classes, and in return, you have 75% of an Art class full of non-art majors just finishing their general education, while we, standing in line, hoping to study art, don’t get in.
Again, this is nothing against anyone else, it’s just about the way this system works. Good teachers do exist. You need to find them and be lucky enough to have a class with them to be enlightened.
Talk to your friends, talk to your teachers. Have a conversation with your parents. If society doesn’t act, nothing will change.
