That title, to me, is an oxymoron. Hi, welcome back to Apotize.com. Today, I’d like to talk about cheap people who’d like to do business with their clients, or cheap clients trying to work with you, the business owner.
First things first, marketing is one of the most important things in business. If your company is not being advertised, it is of no use. Whether by word of mouth, or online networking and advertisement, marketing has proven it’s worth for many many years now. Some clients are just too cheap to pay to have a photoshoot or a video for them, so after showing interest and hearing the prices, they flip sides. They don’t want to promote their business anymore. They suddenly have other things to take care of.

Recently, a client asked for an introduction video for a performance entrance. After taking a week to work out on the price (which I reduced about 50% off), we set a date. After everything became official, the night before the video shoot I got a call from the client informing me about canceling the project because he was “going to be out of town”.
Oh, you think that’s funny ? This is where the fun begins:
A day later, the client makes his own home made video, edited very poorly, with no art direction, posted on facebook. The client had made his own video just to save the couple of dollars which were planned to boost the client’s stamina up.

Things like this rarely happen but they do. And to me, they’re funny. You just get to sit back and watch as you see the client kill his/her own business in front of you while trying to do what you do but failing at it.
SURPRISE !

An Arabic saying I always remember is “Give the bread to the cook, even if he eats half of it.” Meaning, as long as you put it in the right hand, no matter how much you get charged, the outcome is guaranteed. So I’d like to say, good luck, and I really, really hope you feel the embarrassment of your actions, and more importantly, your video.

Bye ;)
